A darknet forum has posted a post claiming that the data of 12.8 million Binance users, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and physical addresses, has been leaked. A user named “FireBear” claims to have accessed the database that was allegedly leaked in August. However, Binance has denied the claims, calling them false.
A Binance spokesperson said that their security team has investigated the situation and confirmed that this is not a data leak. Despite this, cybersecurity experts are urging users to be vigilant, as such incidents can lead to phishing attacks.
Experts advise enabling two-factor authentication and being wary of unexpected messages to avoid being scammed.
